Every time you send a kind message, we give you a point. You can check your weekly score on your profile page!
WordHug
WordHug is a safe place to chat. Sometimes we feel angry and write bad words. Our app is clever. It stops you when you type a bad word. It gives you a list of nice words to use instead. You just click on the better word! Remember, if another person writes something mean to you, do not answer them. You must put your phone down and tell your mum or dad. They can help you feel better and stop the problem.
FriendSpace
Welcome to FriendSpace! We want everyone to have a good time here. It is easy to forget that a real person is looking at the screen. So, our app makes you wait five seconds before it sends your comment. In this time, you can decide to change your words. If you see a comment that makes a friend sad, you should delete it quickly. Forgetting to reply
Alex
Last week, my friend David sent me a message about a football match. I read it, but then my phone screen went black. The battery was dead! I couldn't reply to him at all. I didn't want him to wait for me. So, I walked to his house to say sorry. He was happy to see me, and we played football in his garden instead. I always check my phone battery now, because I don't want to have that problem again!
Ben
My friend Lucas sent me a funny photo, but I was doing my maths homework. I looked at the photo, and then I forgot to write a message back. The next day at school, Lucas was a little angry with me. He thought I didn't like his photo! I felt really bad. After school, I went to the shop and bought his favourite chocolate. I gave it to him as a small gift. He laughed and said it was fine.
Chloe
My best friend Sarah sent me a message about going to the cinema. I typed a long answer on my phone, but I forgot to press send! Later that evening, Sarah asked me why I didn't answer. I felt terrible when I saw my mistake. I didn't write another message. Instead, I called her on the phone immediately to explain what happened. She wasn't angry at all. She thought it was very funny! We went to see a great film the next day.

Rules for using social media at home
Time limits
You should decide together how long you can use social media every day. It is a good idea to set an alarm on your phone. When the alarm rings, you must stop looking at the screen. You also need a rule for bedtime. Do not keep phones in the bedroom at night. Looking at your phone late at night means you will feel tired the next day at school. Leave your devices in the kitchen before you go to sleep.
Sharing safely
It is fun to put photos and stories online, but you must think carefully first. Never share your address or phone number on social media. Also, remember that your friends might not want their pictures on the internet. You should always ask them before you post a photo of them. If someone writes an unkind message to you, do not answer them. Tell your parents or a teacher immediately. They can help you block the person so they cannot contact you again.
Family agreements
Parents and teenagers should sit down and write a list of rules for social media together. Put this list on the wall in your house. This helps everyone remember what they agreed to do. You also need to talk about what happens if someone breaks a rule. Maybe they cannot use their phone for a day. It is best to use tablets and laptops in the living room, not alone in your room. This makes it easy for families to talk about what they are doing online.
