Doing homework with best friends
Leo
My best friend Tom and I always do our homework together at the town library. I am very good at maths, but Tom usually gets better marks in French. So, we can help each other when we don't understand something. We never talk loudly because people are reading. When we finally finish all our school work, we usually walk to a café. We love having a big piece of cake and a hot drink before we go home.
Maya
My friend Sara comes to my house on Tuesdays and Thursdays to study. We sit at my desk and put on some quiet music. It helps me think. Sara is very funny, but sometimes she tells me stories about her day. I have to tell her to look at her books! Even with the talking, I always finish my school work much faster when she is there. It is never boring when we study together.
Sam
I do my homework with my best friend Mark, but we don't sit in the same room. Mark's house is in another town, so we always chat on a video call. It is a great way to study. We don't copy each other's answers. We just talk about the really difficult questions. Sometimes the internet is bad and I can't hear him well. But we always finish our work in the end. Next week, he is visiting me!

Bring Your Parents to School Open Day
Science Class
Next week is our Open Day in the Science room. This year, the event is in the morning, not the afternoon. You will show your parents how to do fun experiments. First, everyone will sit down and watch a short film about our science projects. Then, you can show them how to make a volcano! You must wear your safety glasses, but your parents do not need them. Parents can bring a clean plastic bottle from home for the experiment.
Art Class
Welcome to the Art room Open Day! You can bring your parents here at any time during the day. First, they can look at some beautiful photos of the class trip to the museum. After that, you and your parents will draw and paint a picture together. The teacher will choose the best picture to put on the classroom wall. At the end of the day, your parents can keep your beautiful painting and take it back to their house.
Sports Class
Our Sports Open Day is on Friday. It starts at our normal lesson time. Your parents will sit and watch you play basketball and tennis. They will not play the games with you! You must remember to wear your sports clothes and trainers for this event. At the end of the games, the best team will get a lovely gold medal. Please speak to Mr. Jones tomorrow and tell him if your parents plan to come to the school.

Solving problems on a school project
Leo
My group had to do a science project, but we could not agree on what to study. One friend wanted to look at plants, but another wanted to study animals. We talked for a long time, and I felt very worried. I thought we would never finish! Finally, we went to our science teacher. She listened to us and gave us a great idea about studying the weather. Everyone loved it, and we worked really hard after that.
Maya
In our history group, we knew exactly what we wanted to write about. But we argued about our jobs. My friend Tom is very good at drawing, but he did not want to draw the map. He wanted to write the story. Another girl was upset because she got the hardest reading. To solve this, I got a piece of paper. I wrote everyone's names and gave each person a mix of fun and hard jobs. After that, everyone was happy.
Sam
For our geography project, everyone was happy with their jobs. The real problem was finding a time to work together. We usually go to the library after school, but my friends had sports practice on different days. We couldn't meet! Then, someone had a brilliant idea. We decided to do all our work together on the computer at home in the evenings. We called each other and shared our screens. It was a new way to work for us, but it was great.
