A cancelled sports game
Jake
I play football for my school. Last Saturday, we had a big match against a school from another town. I really wanted to win against them! I felt so angry when it started to rain heavily. I practiced every evening that week to be ready. I even cleaned my old football boots so they looked perfect. My older brother plays on my team too, and he was also very upset. We just went home and felt sad all day.
Liam
I had an important tennis competition at the weekend. The tennis courts are in a city that is two hours away by car. My dad drove me there very early in the morning. When we arrived, dark clouds appeared and it began to rain. I was so mad! I spent all my pocket money on a new tennis racket for this competition. My coach told me to rest the day before, so I didn't even get to hit a ball!
Noah
My friends and I play in a beach volleyball team. On Sunday, the morning was hot and sunny. But in the afternoon, the weather suddenly became terrible. The rain didn't stop, so we couldn't play. I was really angry because my grandparents travelled from their village to see me. They don't often watch my games. We didn't want to go home, so we went to a cafe and ate pizza together instead. It was still a nice afternoon.

Tips for a Relaxed Piano Exam
Calm Your Body
It is normal to feel nervous before a piano exam. Your hands might shake, but you can stop this. First, sit in a quiet place. Close your eyes and take deep breaths. Breathe in slowly, and then breathe out. Do this five times. If your fingers feel cold and stiff, wash them in warm water. This helps them move easily across the keys. Remember to wear comfortable clothes. You will play much better if you feel warm and relaxed.
Think Good Thoughts
Your mind is very important on exam day. Do not worry about making mistakes. Every musician plays a wrong note sometimes! Instead, picture yourself playing perfectly. Imagine the examiner smiling at you. It is a great idea to arrive at the music school early. If you run because you are late, your heart will beat too fast. Get there thirty minutes before your time. You can read a fun book while you wait to help you forget your worries.
Before You Play
When you finally walk into the exam room, remember to smile. A big smile tells your brain that you are happy and safe. The person testing you is not trying to find your mistakes. They want you to do well! Before you begin your first song, touch the piano. Play a few slow notes to test the sound. Take a few seconds to look at your music. You do not have to start immediately. Take your time and enjoy it.

Learning to skateboard
Lucas
I tried to learn to skateboard last year, but it was too hard. A few months ago, my older brother started teaching me. It took a long time, but I finally know how to ride! At first, I was worried about hurting myself. So, I bought a good helmet and some knee pads from a sports shop. Now I feel very safe. I usually ride my board in the park near my house. It is the best feeling in the world!
Emma
I didn't have money to buy a skateboard, so my friend let me use her old one. I wanted to start right away. I didn't have a teacher, so I watched lots of videos on the internet. In the beginning, I fell on the floor a lot. But I didn't stop trying. Now, I can stay on the board without falling. I love the wind in my hair when I go down a hill. Moving so fast makes me feel completely free!
Tom
My parents paid for me to go to a special skateboarding class. We use an indoor park, so we can ride even when it rains. The teacher is great and helps everyone. Now I can ride well, and I often go to the park with my classmates after school. It is so much fun to skate together. Right now, I can only ride in a straight line.
