Feeling homesick at an international camp
Carlos
I arrived at this international summer camp four days ago. I like the sports here, but I really miss my family's cooking. The camp food is okay, but it is not the same as my mother's dinners! When I feel sad, I look at a picture of my pet dog. I put it next to my bed on the first day. Playing football with my new friends also helps me. We run a lot, and I forget about feeling homesick for a while.
Nina
At first, I didn't like being so far away from home. I really missed my own bedroom because the bed here is quite hard. I woke up many times during the first two nights. Now, I telephone my parents every evening before I go to sleep. Hearing their voices makes me feel safe. Yesterday, I started a painting class. Making beautiful pictures is a great way to stop feeling sad. I am making a nice painting for my parents now.
Omar
The first day at camp was very difficult. Everyone speaks English here, and I miss talking in my own language. Sometimes I don't understand the other teenagers, and that makes me feel a bit lonely. But yesterday, I met a boy from a country near mine! We play table tennis together. My favourite time is after dinner. We all sit around a big fire and sing songs. I feel very happy then, and I don't think about my home at all.

Lost your passport or ticket?
Important Copies
When you travel, you must always make a paper copy of your passport and ticket. If you lose your bag, you will still have these copies. This makes the problem much easier to fix. Do not run around if you cannot find your things. First, you must tell an adult that you know, like a teacher or your parents. They know what to do. It is normal to feel upset, but crying will not help you find your ticket.
Check the Area
Sometimes we think we lost our passport, but it is just hiding. You should look carefully in the place where you are standing. Maybe your ticket fell under your chair or behind your bag. If you cannot see it, try to remember where you walked. You can walk back to the last shop or café you visited. Always ask the workers there if they found your things. Police officers at the airport or station are also very friendly and can help you.
Stop and Breathe
If your ticket or passport is missing, your heart might beat very fast. Stop walking immediately and sit down. You should close your eyes and breathe slowly for one minute. This helps your brain think clearly. Many young travellers put their tickets in a different pocket and forget. After you rest, check all your pockets, your jacket, and inside your book. Usually, the missing thing is very close to you! Keep calm and take your time to check everything again.

Seeing snow for the first time
Leo
My family and I went to the mountains last winter. I live in a warm country, so I never saw snow before. When we arrived, everything was totally white! My brother and I ran outside immediately. I picked some snow up with my hands. I was very surprised because it was so cold! We spent the afternoon making a big snowman. We gave him a hat and a carrot nose. My mum took a photo of us next to it. It was a wonderful trip.
Mia
It never gets very cold in my town. But one morning, I looked out of my bedroom window and saw white snow everywhere! I could not believe my eyes. I put my coat on and ran into the garden with my dog, Buster. He loved the snow and tried to eat it! I did not make a snowman because the snow was too soft. But I took hundreds of photos on my phone to show my friends. It was the best morning ever.
Sam
I saw snow for the first time on a school skiing trip. My classmates and I travelled by bus to a big ski resort. When I stepped outside, my feet went deep into the soft snow. It was quite difficult to walk at first! The snow looked like sugar. I decided to put some in my mouth. It tasted just like cold water, but it was really fun. I did not have my phone, so I bought a picture from the hotel shop later.
