Dealing with Angry Customers
Listen Carefully
When a customer in your café is angry, you must listen to them first. Do not speak while they are talking. Wait until they finish their story. Sometimes, people just want to explain their problem. You should look at their face to show you understand. If they ordered a hot dinner and it is cold, say you are sorry. Never say they are wrong. You can easily make them happy again by listening well.
Keep Your Voice Quiet
It is hard to be polite when someone shouts at you. If a customer is very loud about their coffee, you must not shout back. You should breathe slowly and speak very quietly. A quiet voice helps angry people to relax. Always use nice words like 'please' and 'thank you'. Remember that they are angry about the food, not about you. Try to think about something happy. This will help you to smile while you work.
Find the Manager
Sometimes, you cannot fix a customer's problem alone. If a person is still angry after you bring a new cake, you need to ask for help. You should go to the kitchen and find your manager. Older workers know exactly what to do. The manager can talk to the unhappy person for you. They might give the customer a free drink or give their money back. You can go and clean some tables while the manager helps them.

Buying a gift for mum with our own money
Leo
Last month, it was my mum's birthday. Usually, I ask my dad for some cash to buy her a present. But this year, I washed his car every weekend to earn my own money. I felt very proud! I bought my mum a beautiful silver necklace. When she opened the small box, she actually cried because she was so happy. It was the best feeling in the world. I am glad I didn't need my dad to pay for it this time.
Mia
My mum always buys me nice clothes and books. For Mother's Day, I really wanted to say thank you with a special gift. I saved my pocket money for two months. I looked on the internet for hours to find the perfect present. Finally, I bought a soft, blue scarf. Blue is her favourite colour. She was surprised and gave me a big hug. Now, she wears the scarf every day when she goes to her office. I feel so happy when I see it.
Toby
I worked in a local café during the summer holidays to get some extra money. Last week, I walked past a bookshop and saw a new book by my mum's favourite writer. It wasn't her birthday or a special holiday, but I bought it anyway. My mum and I love reading together in the evenings. When I gave her the surprise present, she smiled a lot. Feeling worried in big shopping malls
Make a careful plan
Do you feel bad when there are too many people in the mall? Before you leave your house, you should write a list of what you need. This helps you finish your shopping fast. Also, remember to take a break. Big shops have small cafes or quiet areas with seats. You can sit there for ten minutes and drink some water. This will help you feel much better before you visit the next shop.
Choose the right time
Shopping centres are often very noisy and busy at the weekend. If you want a quiet trip, try to visit the shops early on a Sunday morning. There are fewer people then, so you can walk around easily. Also, loud music in shops can make you feel tired. You can bring your own headphones. Put them on and listen to your favourite calm songs. You will feel happy and forget about the noise around you.
Ask a friend
It is difficult to go to a big shopping centre alone. Ask a good friend to go with you. Choose someone who is calm and kind. If you feel worried, your friend can help you. You should also tell your friend how much time you want to spend there. You can set an alarm on your phone for one hour. When the alarm rings, it is time to go home. You do not have to stay all day!
