Building the School Play

Leo

I love art, so my job in the school play is perfect for me. I paint the large pictures for the background. At the moment, I am painting a big forest. I work on this with my classmate, Toby. We talk and listen to music while we paint. It is great fun. The only problem is that my trousers and shoes always get dirty. My mom has to wash them every night! I want to paint the background for the next play too.

Mia

I am making the wooden doors and windows for our theater play. My grandfather gave me some special tools, and he teaches me how to use them safely. I really enjoy hitting the wood and making it strong. My job makes a lot of noise, so I must work outside the school hall. Other students are painting inside, but I prefer building things. Yesterday, the teacher asked me to build a big table for the actors. I cannot wait to see it on stage.

Sam

I make the small things for the play, like fake food and old books. I usually use empty cardboard boxes and plastic bottles. I love using rubbish to make cool objects. I do not have much time at school, so I often finish making these things in my bedroom at the weekend. Last week, an actor dropped a special clock and it broke. I fixed it with some glue. It looks new again, and the teacher was very happy with my work!

    Making a History Video

    Time Travel TV

Do you want to make a fun history video? You can play the part of a famous person from the past! First, ask your parents if you can borrow some old clothes to wear. You need to look like someone from history. It is a great idea to film your video in a park or in your garden. Do not film in your bedroom! Stand in front of some trees and act out your story. Your friends can hold the camera for you.

    Drawing the Past

You can tell a great history story with art. You do not need to show your face on the camera for this video! First, draw big pictures of the people and places from your history project. Hold your pictures up to the camera and film them one by one. When you finish making the video of your pictures, you can record your voice. Read your history story loudly. You can even play some quiet guitar music in the background. It is very easy to do!

    History News

You can make your history video look like a news programme on television. You can sit at a desk and act like a news reporter. Ask a friend to sit next to you. You can ask them questions about an important event in history. You should show some real black and white photographs from the past in your video. This makes your news report look real. You must practice what you want to say first so you do not make mistakes. Everyone will love it!

      Choosing the cooking class

      Sam

I decided to choose the cooking class to help my parents. They both finish work quite late in the evening. Now, I can make hot meals for them when they get back. I also play a lot of football, so I need to eat well. In the class, we learn how to cook healthy dinners with lots of fresh vegetables. I don't want to be a chef in the future, but cooking is a very useful hobby!

      Mia

I chose this subject because my older sister told me it was great. She did the class two years ago. I really love baking, and my favourite things to make are chocolate cakes and biscuits. Sometimes we make healthy salads, but I prefer the desserts! I always take my cakes to school the next day and give them to my classmates. They always eat them very quickly! Cooking is definitely my favourite subject this year.

      Leo

In a few years, I will go to university and live with my friends. I chose the cooking class because I want to make my own meals then. I don't want to eat fast food every day! Our teacher shows us how to prepare dishes from all over the world. Last week, we made a fantastic Indian curry. I never cook for my parents at home because my dad is already a brilliant cook.
