Donating Old Textbooks
Book Swap Club
Do you have old textbooks at home? Do not throw them away! Bring them to the Book Swap Club. We meet every Friday afternoon in the school library. You can give us your old textbook and choose a different book to take home. It is a great way to save money and read new things. Please check that your books are clean. We cannot take books with writing on the pages. You can bring your younger brothers and sisters to the club, too!
Library Helpers
We want to fill our school library with useful textbooks for next year. If you have finished your classes, please give your old books to the Library Helpers. The younger students need these books for their lessons. You do not need to wait for a meeting. Just put your books in the big blue box outside the main office. Every time you give a book, you get a free pen as a thank-you present! Please help us save paper today.
Green Readers
The Green Readers group wants to save paper. People often throw textbooks in the bin because they are old or broken. Do not do that! Bring your broken books to our meetings. We meet every Monday at lunchtime in the art room. We use tape and glue to fix the books and make them strong again. We do not mind if your books have writing inside them. Then, we put the books on the library shelves for everyone to read.

Learning about endangered animals
Lucas
In our geography class, we learned about endangered animals. I chose to study wild tigers for my school project. It is very sad because there are not many of them left in the world today. Our teacher told us that people are cutting down the forests where they live. Now, the tigers cannot find enough food. I spend a lot of time reading books about them. I hope people will stop destroying their homes soon. Next week, I have to show my work to the class.
Elena
We watched a video about sea turtles in geography yesterday. I love the ocean, so I really enjoyed it. But I was upset to learn that much of our rubbish goes into the sea. Turtles think plastic bags are food and eat them. This makes them very ill. I talked to my parents about it at dinner. Now, I want to start a group at school to sell cakes. We can send the cash to a group that cleans the beaches and protects the turtles.
Tariq
I always thought endangered animals lived far away in hot countries. But in our geography lesson, my teacher showed us pictures of some small birds. They live right here in our town, but their numbers are going down fast. I could not believe it! Our town is building too many new houses and roads. The birds have nowhere to build their homes. This weekend, my dad is taking me to the forest outside the city. We want to walk around and try to find some of them.

Zero-waste school lunches
Green School
Do you want to help the environment? You can make a zero-waste lunchbox every day. First, do not buy small plastic packets of biscuits or crisps. It is better to buy a big bag because it is cheaper. Then you can put the snacks into little plastic containers. You can use these boxes again and again. Just wash them after school. Finally, remember to clean your apples and grapes in the morning. Put them in your bag and enjoy your day!
Eco Lunch
Packing a clean lunchbox is very easy. You must think about your food on Sunday. Write down what you want to eat from Monday to Friday. This helps you buy only the right things. Do not use paper paper bags or plastic wrap for your sandwiches. Put them in a bag made of cloth. You can also bring a metal bottle. It can keep your juice or water cool for many hours. This is great for hot summer days at school.
Safe Earth
You can save the planet by changing your lunch habits. Never use paper tissues when you eat. You can take a napkin made from an old shirt or dress to clean your fingers. If you do not eat all your lunch, do not throw it in the school bin. Bring the extra food back to your house and eat it later. This stops waste! You can also tell your classmates about these rules. They are very simple and fun.
