Video Chatting with Japan

Liam

Our partner school is in Tokyo, Japan. Japan is very far away, so they are many hours ahead of us. It is quite hard to plan our video calls. We usually chat very early in the morning when it is evening for them! Last week, I walked around our classroom with the camera. I wanted to show them where we study. After that, we played a fun British word game together. They laughed a lot. I really enjoy our chats.

Zoe

My class chats with our Japanese friends every Friday. We always spend the first ten minutes speaking Japanese, and then we change to English. It is a great way to learn new words! Sometimes our internet is quite bad, and the video stops. But we always fix it quickly. Yesterday, we talked about what we eat for lunch. A Japanese girl showed me her beautiful sushi box. Next week, I will show them my favorite cheese sandwich!

Noah

I did not want to speak on the video call at first because I am very quiet. But the Japanese students were very friendly, so I soon felt happy. I talked to a boy called Ken. We both love playing the guitar and listening to rock music. We played some songs for each other. Now, we send emails every week. I want to save my pocket money and buy a plane ticket to Tokyo when I am older.

Do you want to learn English in a busy capital city? At our school, you study in the mornings and visit famous places in the afternoons. You will see beautiful old buildings and go to great shops to buy gifts. You will not stay in a hotel. You will live in a house with a British family. This is a wonderful way to practice speaking English every day! You must bring an umbrella because it often rains here in the summer.

    Sunny Sea College

This is the perfect summer school for teenagers who love the beach! You will have English lessons for three hours every morning. In the afternoons, you can try sailing or surfing. Please remember to bring your sports clothes and a swimming costume with you. You will stay in a large student house near the water. You will share a bedroom with three other students from different countries. It is very easy to make new friends here!

    Green Forest Camp

Do you enjoy nature and the outdoors? Our language camp is in the middle of a beautiful forest, many kilometres from the nearest town. We do not use boring books to teach English. A geography trip to the river

      Daniel

Our geography teacher took us to the river last week. We had to find out how fast the water moves. We used a plastic ball and a clock. It was actually a fun maths lesson! I walked into the water to get the ball. My boots were too short, and the cold water went right inside them. My feet were wet all day! Next time, I will wear taller boots. I didn't see any fish, but I learned a lot about the water.

      Sophie

I loved our trip to the river because I really like animals. My friend Emma and I had to look for insects and fish. We found a lot of information together. I brought my mobile phone because I wanted to take photos. I got some great pictures of a big bird in a tree. Daniel was in the water, but I stayed on the dry grass. I don't like getting my clothes dirty! I hope we can have more lessons outside soon.

      Liam

The river trip was very interesting, but I felt a bit sad. We saw lots of plastic bottles and sweet wrappers on the grass next to the water. Some people are very careless. My friends and I spent an hour picking up the rubbish and putting it in large bags. It is important to keep our rivers clean for the animals. The area looks much better now. I am going to ask my mum and dad to take me there again next weekend.
