Tips for school trips

Travelling on the bus

When you are on the school bus, remember that you are wearing your school uniform. People will look at you. You must always speak quietly. Some passengers are travelling a long way and want to sleep. Do not play loud music on your phone. Also, if the bus is full, you should stand up and let an older person sit in your seat. Always say 'thank you' to the bus driver when you get off. This shows that our school is great.

During the visit

When you arrive at a museum or a famous building, you must stay with your teacher. A guide will usually walk with your group. You need to listen carefully when they speak. It is polite to ask them questions if you want to know more about the history. But please remember the rules. You can look at the old objects, but you must not touch them with your hands. You do not want to break anything! You can buy food later.

Having your lunch

You will usually have an hour to stop and eat your lunch. Sometimes you eat in a small park, and sometimes you go to a café. If you buy a sandwich or a drink, you should smile and say nice words to the workers. When you finish eating, look around you. You must never leave your empty drink bottles or food packets on the table or the grass. Always find a bin and throw your rubbish in it before you leave.

    Studying in a foreign language

    Elena

I moved to London last year, so I have to study everything in English. At first, it was very hard. I like speaking to my new friends, but writing is not easy for me. I always make mistakes with my letters. To get better, I watch lots of English movies at the weekend. My parents watch them with me, but they cannot help me with my homework. The movies are really fun, and I learn how people speak in real life.

    Taro

I learn Spanish at my school. I really enjoy finding out what new words mean. I use an app on my phone to learn ten words every day. But Spanish people speak very fast! It is hard to know what they are saying. After school, I often play video games on the internet with boys from Spain. We chat in Spanish while we play. It is a great way to practice, and it is much more fun than reading a book.

    Sofia

I study French, and I really like it. I love listening to French music and singing the songs in my bedroom. But I am quite a shy person. When the teacher asks me a question in the classroom, I always feel nervous. I worry about saying the wrong thing. Luckily, my older brother studies French at university. He always sits with me and helps me with my school work. We read French comic books together, which is really cool.
