Wearing a school uniform
Leo
I really like wearing a uniform to school. Before we had one, I spent a lot of time every morning choosing my clothes. Now, I can stay in bed for another ten minutes! I do not think about fashion very much, so the simple grey trousers and white shirt are perfect for me. The only bad thing is the weather. In July and August, the heavy shirt makes me feel very hot. I wish we could wear T-shirts then.
Mia
I do not like our school uniform at all. I love wearing bright colours, but our uniform is dark blue and black. I want to wear my own clothes to show what I like. Also, the special school jackets and skirts cost a lot of money. My parents did not buy me a new one this year. I have to wear my older sister’s old uniform. It is a bit too big for me, but it is okay.
Sam
I think uniforms are a great idea. When everyone wears the same clothes, you do not worry about looking different or having cheap things. We all look like a big team. When I walk home or go on school trips, I feel proud to show which school I go to. My only problem is the shoes. We must wear smart black shoes every day. They hurt my feet! I really want to wear my comfortable sports shoes instead.

Advice on getting enough sleep during exams
Rest Easy
Exams are a very busy time, but you need eight hours of sleep! To sleep well, you should go to bed at the exact same time every night. This helps your body know it is time to rest. You also need to think about what you drink. Do not have hot chocolate or sweet drinks in the evening. They can keep you awake. Drink some warm milk instead. Sometimes, students read their school books in bed. You should not do this!
Sleep Smart
Are you worried about your exams? Sometimes it is hard to sleep when you feel nervous. If you cannot sleep, you should talk to your parents or a good friend about your problems. This will help you feel much better. You must also remember to leave your school work on the kitchen table. Do not take your notes into your bedroom! During the day, it is a great idea to play sports in the park. Fresh air helps you sleep nicely at night.
Night Calm
You need to rest your brain after studying all day for exams. Do you look at your mobile phone in bed? The light from the screen is very bad for your eyes. You must turn it off and make sure your bedroom is completely black. You will fall asleep much faster without any light! If you still feel awake, pick up a good storybook. Reading about different people and places is a nice way to get tired. Do not read about your exams!

Rewarding ourselves after a big project
Lucas
I had to write a long science project last week. It took a lot of time. When I finally finished it on Friday, I wanted to do something fun. I used my pocket money to buy a new computer game. I didn't want to go out, so I stayed in my bedroom all Saturday and played it. My mum cooked my favourite dinner, but the game was my real reward. I loved having a quiet weekend after working so hard.
Nina
My art teacher gave us a difficult painting to do at home. I worked on it every evening. When it was ready, I decided to give myself a nice treat. I didn't buy a game to keep. Instead, I invited my best friend to a new café in town. We both ordered a huge chocolate ice cream. It was very sweet and delicious! We talked for hours and forgot about school. It was exactly what I needed.
Oscar
I read three books for my history homework. My eyes hurt and I felt really tired! I wanted to rest, so my dad gave me some cash as a present. I used it to buy a ticket for the cinema. I watched a great funny film. I bought some hot food there, but I didn't eat it all. Sitting in the dark and looking at the big screen was amazing. I felt ready for school again on Monday morning.
