E-books or Real Books?
Leo
I love reading e-books in class. Last year, my school bag was very heavy because I carried five large paper books. Now, I have all my school books on one small tablet. It is much easier! Another good thing is that I can change the size of the letters. I make the words bigger when I am tired. Some of my friends love real books, but I think tablets are the best choice for students today.
Maya
In my class, we can choose how we read. I always choose paper books. When I read on a screen for a long time, my eyes hurt. Also, you must remember to charge your tablet every night. If it stops working in the middle of a lesson, you have a big problem! I also just love turning real paper pages. My brother reads e-books to learn new words, but I prefer holding a real book in my hands.
Sam
I use both kinds of books at home, but e-books are definitely better for school. I often find difficult words when we read in our English lessons. On my tablet, I just touch the word and it tells me what it means. It is very fast! E-books are also a great way to save trees. We do not need to use paper to make them. My teacher says we should look after nature, so I think everyone should read e-books in class.

Internet Safety Week
Safe Passwords
During Internet Safety Week, you can learn how to make great passwords. A good password should have letters and numbers. Never use your pet’s name because people can guess it easily. You must keep your password a secret. It is a bad idea to give it to your best friend. If you forget your password, do not make a new account. You can ask our school computer teacher to help you change it. This class is on Tuesday morning in the library.
Chatting Online
Do you like playing video games with other people on the internet? On Wednesday, we have a special talk about safe online gaming. Remember that some people online are not who they say they are. You should never send a photo of your face or tell anyone your real name. If someone says something unkind to you in a chat, do not answer them. You must tell a parent or a teacher immediately. We will show you how to block bad messages.
Safe Downloads
The internet is full of fun things, but sometimes it is dangerous. On Friday afternoon, you can learn about safe websites. You must not click on big red buttons that say 'Win a prize'. These are usually a trick! If you want to download a new game or a funny video, you must ask your parents first. Sometimes free games have bad computer viruses in them. If your tablet or phone starts working very slowly, you should turn it off right away.

Using apps to remember school tests
Sam
I always use a calendar app for my school tests. My mom helps me put all the dates into my phone at the start of the year. I like to change the colours for different subjects. Maths is blue and science is green. I also add happy face pictures next to the test times. My app is always very quiet, so it never rings in class. I just look at the screen when I need to know my next test.
Mia
Last year, I wrote all my test dates in a small paper book. Now, I have a great app on my phone. I share my online calendar with my best friend. We can see each other's test days and study together. I always tell my app to play a loud song two days before a big test. This alarm helps me remember to start reading my books. I never forget my homework or my exams now.
Leo
I have a lot of tests this term, so I need a good calendar app. Every morning, the first thing I do is check my phone to see my plan for the day. When I add a new test to the calendar, I type some short notes too. I write exactly which pages I must read in my school books. I do not use small pictures because I only want to read the important words. It really helps me study.
