How to politely ask your brother or sister to turn down their music

Leave a Note

Are you feeling angry about your brother or sister's loud music? Do not open their door and shout. It is better to write a short message on a piece of paper. Keep your words kind. You can say that you are trying to study for a school test. Put the note under their door. You can also draw a funny picture on the paper. This will make your brother or sister smile. They will quickly turn the volume down, and you will not have an angry fight.

Make a Deal

Sometimes, you just need to offer your brother or sister something nice. Knock on their door and ask them to use their headphones. If they say no, tell them you will help them with something. You can offer to wash the dinner plates or clean their bicycle for them. You can also bring them their favourite snack, like a biscuit or some fruit. When you do something helpful for them, they will usually listen to you. They will keep the house quiet for you.

Show Some Interest

People love talking about their favourite songs. So, go into your brother or sister's room and sit down. Listen to the song for a minute. Then, ask them who is singing. Tell them that the music sounds really great. After you chat for a few minutes, carefully explain your problem. Tell them your head hurts or you want to sleep. Because you were nice about their music, they will easily understand. They will happily play the music more quietly for the rest of the day.

    Classic Rock Music with Parents

    Tom

My dad loves classic rock music, and now I love it too! When he was a university student, he played the guitar in a rock band. Now, he is teaching me how to play the electric guitar. We practice in the garage every Sunday. We learn his favourite songs from the 1980s together. I love listening to the music, but I have never been to a real rock concert. I hope my dad can take me to one for my next birthday!

    Lisa

Last month, I found a big box of old rock music records in our garage. They belong to my mum. She was so happy when I played them! Now, we listen to them every weekend. We also listen to loud rock music when she drives me to school. We always sing the songs together in the car. I want to learn to play the drums, but we don't have enough space in our house. So, I just enjoy listening with her!

    Ben

Every summer, my parents and I travel to a big rock music festival. My dad knows everything about classic rock. He tells me all the band names. I love keeping the tickets from all the concerts we go to. I have a big book full of them in my bedroom! On winter weekends, we cannot go to festivals. Instead, we sit on the sofa and watch interesting documentaries on television. It is fun to learn the history of our favourite rock singers.

Tips to support a nervous singer

      The Practice Plan

Does your friend want to sing online but feels afraid? You can help them practice before the video stream starts. First, help them choose a song they know very well. Ask them to sing it to you in their bedroom first. When they stream, tell them not to look at the camera. They can look at a poster on the wall instead. If they make a mistake during the song, tell them to just keep singing. Nobody is perfect!

      The Chat Helper

When your friend is singing on the video stream, the chat can be scary. You can be the chat helper! Sit in another room and watch the stream on your phone. You should type lots of nice messages, like "Great job!" or "Beautiful voice!" If someone writes a bad message, you can hide it fast. This means your friend only sees happy words. After the video finishes, you can buy them a pizza to say well done!

      The Setup Team

A good room makes a big difference. Before the video starts, you can help your friend get ready. Make sure the internet is working well. You also need to check the microphone so everyone can hear the music clearly. Turn on some nice lights to make the room look cool. Just before they start singing, bring them a glass of warm water. This is very good for their voice. Finally, leave the room so they can sing alone.

10 C - Reason: Text C says you should "leave the room so they can sing alone". Text A has a negative trap about being in the bedroom with them while they practice.

11 B - Reason: Text B says "You should type lots of nice messages, like 'Great job!'".

12 A - Reason: Text A advises you to "help them choose a song".

13 C - Reason: Text C says you need to "make sure the internet is working well" and "check the microphone". Text B has a trap mentioning watching on a phone.
