Sharing Morning Runs on Social Media

Alex

I love running in the mornings. I only share my running maps online when I visit a different town or park. My friends do not want to see the same streets every day! Putting my routes on the internet makes me try to run quicker. I want to show a fast time to my followers. I only post the map and the time. I never write down the number of kilometres I run on my page.

Ben

I go running with my older brother every day at 6 a.m. He is very fast! We always take our phones to put our routes on social media. But sometimes I leave my phone on my bed and cannot make a map of my run. When I share my route, my friends often write nice comments. My brother likes to stop and take photos of trees and flowers, but I do not like putting pictures on my page.

Charlie

Every morning, I run around the lake in my town. I love making videos and taking pictures of the water and the birds. I always add these beautiful pictures to my running map before I post it online. A lot of people from my school follow me. They often leave comments with ideas for different streets or parks to run in. That is really helpful! I usually run alone, but maybe I will invite my friends soon.

      Teen gamers and wrist pain

      Leo

I love playing fighting games on my computer. I want to win, so I press the keys very quickly. Last month, my wrists started hurting a lot. My doctor said I need to look after my hands better. Now, I always do some simple hand exercises before I start a game. It really helps! My friend told me to buy a new keyboard, but I like my old one. I just need to remember to warm up my hands first.

      Mia

I play online strategy games with my team every evening. We usually play for three hours. Because I move my mouse so much, my right wrist sometimes feels terrible. I tried putting ice on it, but it didn't help. Then, my dad bought me a special soft mat for my mouse. It supports my hand while I play. I also make sure I stop playing for five minutes every half hour. My wrist feels much better now!

      Toby

I play football video games in competitions. When the matches get exciting, I hold my controller really tightly. This makes my wrists and fingers ache after a while. I asked my older brother for advice because he plays sports. He told me to put something cold on my wrists after I finish playing. I use ice, and it works perfectly! I also try to stretch my arms and take deep breaths. I don't feel the pain anymore.

      Answer Key & Explanations
