Keeping your school clothes
Sewing your labels
Do you lose your school sweaters often? You can buy special name labels from the school shop. The best way to put them on your clothes is with a needle and thread. It takes a little time to do this, but the label will stay on your clothes for a very long time. It will not fall off in the wash. This is a great idea for thick winter clothes. Just ask an adult to help you cut the thread!
Using an iron
You can put names on your school shirts quickly with special labels. You do not need a needle. You just put the label on the shirt and press a hot iron on it. It only takes a few seconds, so it is perfect when you are in a hurry! But you must be careful. Always ask your parents to use the iron because it is very hot. These labels are great for thin cotton clothes, but sometimes they come off in the wash.
Special clothes pens
Sometimes you forget to buy labels. Do not worry! You can buy a special pen from the supermarket and write your name straight onto the clothes. It is very easy. You should always write your name on the white washing tag inside the shirt. If you write on the outside, it looks bad. After you write your name, you must wait for two hours. The ink needs time to dry before you put the clothes on, or it will make a mess.

Our Fashion History Projects
Liam
For my history project, I wanted to learn about fashion in the 1970s. I decided to ask my grandparents because they were teenagers then. My grandmother showed me some old photos of her in colourful trousers and big shoes. My grandfather told me great stories about his clothes. Getting the information was really fun, but writing the long report for our teacher was quite hard for me. Next time, I want to make a video instead!
Chloe
I love playing tennis, so my project was about the clothes people wore to do exercise in the past. I didn’t use the internet. Instead, I went to the town library and looked at lots of old magazines about tennis. It was interesting to see what players wore a long time ago. The dresses were very long! I didn't write a report. I made a big poster and painted pictures of the clothes. It took a long time, but it looked fantastic.
Noah
My project was about the hats that men wore a hundred years ago. I spent hours on the internet watching old black and white films to see the different styles. I also visited a local museum to look at their hat collection. The man there was very kind and gave me an old hat to take to school. It was great to show a real hat to my classmates when I talked about my project. Everyone wanted to try it on!

Lost items in the cafeteria
Blue Winter Jacket
Is this heavy blue jacket yours? We found it on a chair near the cafeteria window on Tuesday. It is perfect for cold weather and has a large hood. There is a pair of black gloves in the left pocket, but there is no name inside. If you think this is your jacket, please come to the school office. You need to tell us what color the buttons are so we know it belongs to you. You can collect it any day before Friday.
Green Sports Bag
Did you leave a green bag on the floor after lunch yesterday? This bag is quite big and it has two short handles. Inside the bag, there are some dirty running shoes and a clean white towel. We also found a water bottle next to it, but it does not belong in the bag. Please speak to Mrs. Smith in the library to get it back. You must come during the morning break because the library closes early today.
Red and Yellow Sweater
We have a bright red and yellow sweater at the front desk. Someone left it under a table in the cafeteria this morning. It looks very new and has a picture of a little monkey on the front. It is a small size, so it probably belongs to a younger student. If you lost this warm sweater, you must ask the secretary for it. Bring your student card with you when you come. We will keep it here until the end of the month.
