Spending Pocket Money
Leo
My parents give me pocket money every week, but I have to work for it! I wash the family car and clean the windows. It is hard work, but I don't mind. This month, I am saving my money to buy a new skateboard. The old one is broken. But first, I need to get a birthday present for my mum. She really loves flowers, so I will buy her a big bunch. I will have to wait until next month to get my skateboard!
Mia
I do not get money from my parents. Instead, I work in a local cafe on Saturday mornings. The money is good! I really want to buy some new dresses and skirts, but I cannot do that this month. I always spend a lot of cash when I go into town. I love buying hot pizza and ice cream with my classmates after school! Next week, we are going to the cinema together, so I need to keep some money in my wallet for the ticket.
Toby
My grandparents give me ten pounds every month. I never spend it all at once. I keep my cash inside a small wooden box on my desk. It is very safe there. I do not care about clothes or video games. I love art, so I use my pocket money to buy paper and pens. I love drawing pictures of animals and buildings. If I have some money left at the end of the month, I sometimes buy a comic book to read in bed.

Saving Money for Fashion
The Cash Jar Method
Do you want to buy an expensive jacket but you do not have enough money? A good idea is to use a glass jar. Every week, when you get your pocket money from your parents, put half of it inside the jar. You can use the other half to buy small things like snacks or cinema tickets. It might take a few months to save enough money. But watching the cash grow in your jar is really fun!
Selling Your Old Things
Look inside your bedroom cupboard. You probably have lots of jeans or dresses that you never wear. You can sell these old clothes to get money for your new fashion purchase! Ask an adult to help you put photos of your old clothes on the internet. People can pay you for them. This is a fast way to make cash. It also gives you more space in your room for your new clothes.
Helping at Home
If you need money for a special pair of trainers, you can do extra jobs for your family. Ask your parents if they will pay you to wash the car or clean the windows at the weekend. You can also help your neighbours with their gardens. Write down the jobs you do and the money you make in a notebook. This helps you see how much more money you need before you can visit the clothes shop!

Folding clothes at the weekend
Alex
I work at a big clothes shop every Saturday morning. My job is folding shirts and trousers. I arrive at seven o'clock, long before the shop opens! I love my job because I can see all the new jackets and hats first. Our manager never lets us listen to music, so it is very quiet. Sometimes, clothes have small holes in them. When this happens, I can buy them for very little money. I get lots of nice things this way!
Jamie
I fold clothes on Sunday afternoons. The shop is always very busy with customers. People often ask me where they can find different sizes, and I am always happy to show them. I never buy the clothes there because they are too expensive for me. I try to make all the tables look beautiful. My dream is to run a big clothes shop when I am older. I learn a lot about business just by watching the people who work there every day.
Taylor
I spend my weekends folding sweaters and jeans at a sports shop. It is a big place, and I stand up for a long time. When I go home, my feet and legs always hurt! But it is a fun place to work. After the shop closes at night, we stay to clean and fold. I put my headphones on and enjoy my favourite pop songs while I work fast. My friends ask if I get cheap clothes. Sadly, I do not!
