Our first part-time job interviews
Ben
I felt really nervous before my interview at the new town cafe. It was my first time trying to get a job. My biggest problem was my clothes. I didn't know what to wear! I didn't want to look too smart, but I didn't want to wear dirty jeans either. I called my friend Marco because he already works there. He gave me some great ideas. I wore a clean white shirt and dark trousers. In the end, the manager was very friendly.
Sarah
I wanted to work in the local pet shop at the weekends. When they asked me to come for an interview, I felt sick. I was so afraid that I wouldn't know what to say to the manager. I worried that I might forget all my words. My mum helped me practice the evening before. I also wrote some ideas down on paper. I kept the notes in my pocket. During the meeting, I remembered everything and talked a lot about my own cats.
Tom
I had an interview to put books on shelves at the library. I am sometimes slow in the mornings, so I felt really nervous about arriving late. The library is quite far from my house. The day before the meeting, I checked the bus times on the internet. I planned my journey very carefully. On the day of the interview, I actually got to the building twenty minutes early! I sat outside and read a book until it was time to go in.

How not to feel pressured to buy expensive clothes
Be creative
Do you feel bad when friends buy expensive new clothes? You do not have to spend a lot of money to look fantastic. You can be creative with the things in your bedroom! Try wearing your old shirts and jeans in a different way. You can also sew new buttons on an old jacket to make it look new. When you mix different colours and styles, you look very interesting. Your friends will love your special look, and you will save a lot of cash.
Shop in different places
Many teenagers want to wear clothes with famous names, but these are often very expensive. If you want to buy cool clothes, you should visit second-hand shops or weekend markets. You can find amazing things there for very little money! People have worn these clothes before, but they are still in very good condition. You can buy hats, coats, and bags that nobody else has. Your friends will ask where you get your amazing clothes. You can tell them about your great shopping secrets!
Talk to your friends
It is normal to feel worried when your friends always buy expensive clothes. But remember, real friends like you because you are a kind and fun person. They do not care about the price of your shoes! If you feel stressed, you must tell them the truth. Tell them that you do not want to spend all your money on clothes. You can ask them to do other fun things together, like playing sports or watching films, instead of going to the shopping centre.

Things We Did Not Need
Toby
Last month, I went shopping with my family. I saw a huge winter coat in a shop window. It was very cheap, so I bought it immediately. I thought it was a great idea. However, I live in a warm city. It never snows here, and the sun usually shines. The coat is still in my bedroom, and I never wear it. I feel silly because I spent my pocket money on something I do not need. Next time, I will think carefully before I buy clothes.
Sam
All my classmates talked about a new video game, so I decided to buy it too. I wanted to play it with them online. But when I turned on my computer and tried it, I hated it. It was really boring! I only played it for one hour, and I never opened it again. It cost a lot of money. I really love reading, so I wish I bought some new storybooks instead. I learned that I do not need the same things as my friends.
Mia
Before my summer holiday, I bought a beautiful digital camera. I wanted to take amazing pictures of the beach. But when I packed my bag, the camera was too big and heavy. I left it at home. During the trip, I took hundreds of photos, but I just used my mobile phone. It was much easier, and the pictures look great. Now, the expensive camera just sits on my desk. I am sad because I lost a lot of money, and I do not need it.
