Advice for young artists
Keep Painting
Do people say bad things about your paintings? It is easy to feel sad when this happens. Sometimes, your friends do not understand your art. But you should not put your pictures in the bin! Remember why you started painting. You do it because it makes you happy. You do not paint just to please other people. If someone says they do not like your picture, just smile. Put on your favourite music, pick up your brush, and start a new painting today!
Ask for Help
When someone says your art is bad, you can use their words to get better. Do not get angry. Instead, ask your art teacher for help. They can show you how to draw better shapes or use different colours. Even famous artists painted terrible pictures when they were young! They had to practise a lot. So, next time someone gives you a bad opinion, listen carefully. Maybe they are right. You can try their ideas and make your next painting look fantastic.
Share Online
Are you worried about what your family thinks of your art? Maybe you should show your paintings to different people. You can find special groups for young artists on the internet. People in these groups love art and always say nice things. They will help you feel good about your work. If you still feel stressed about bad opinions, it is okay to stop painting for a few weeks. Take a long break. You can go for walks and look for new ideas.

Liam
All my classmates play basketball. They always talk about the games at school. Last month, they asked me to join their team. I said yes because I wanted to be with them. But I do not like basketball at all. I am not very fast, and I hate getting tired. I really want to stay at home and draw pictures in my bedroom. I am afraid to tell my friends because they might be angry with me.
Chloe
My best friend Sarah wanted to join a running club. She asked me to go with her, so I bought some new shoes and started running. At first, I only did it for her. I did not care about the sport. But after a few weeks, Sarah got bored and left the club. Surprisingly, I stayed! I love running now. I feel strong and healthy. I made some great new friends there, too. I am glad I tried it.
Noah
Every weekend, my friends play football in the park. They often tell me to play with them. In the past, I usually played just to make them happy. But I was never good at kicking the ball. This year, I decided to stop. I told them I wanted to go swimming instead. At first, they did not understand. But now they are okay with it. I go to the pool every Saturday, and I feel much happier doing a sport I actually like.

Salsa is a fun dance from South America. In this class, you move quickly to fast music. It is a great way to forget about your hard schoolwork and just have fun! You do not need to bring a friend because we put everyone into pairs. Do not worry if you do not know the steps. It is fine to make mistakes here. We just laugh and try again. You will leave the room with a big smile and feel very confident.
