What to do when you feel bored with your hobby
Share the Fun
Do you play the guitar or paint alone in your bedroom? Doing things by yourself can sometimes get boring. But you do not have to stop your hobby. Why don't you find a club at school? It is great to meet other teenagers who like the same things as you. You can talk about your hobby and learn from each other. Doing an activity with friends is much more exciting. You will soon love your old hobby again!
Try Something New
Are you tired of playing the same computer games every weekend? It is completely fine to stop doing a hobby for a while. You can put your games away and start a different activity. Why not try a fast sport like basketball? Or maybe you can learn to cook simple meals for your family. When you try something new, your brain works hard. It is a brilliant way to stop feeling bored. You might find a new favourite hobby!
Help Other People
Maybe you are very good at a hobby, like taking photos or making clothes. If you feel bored, you can use your skills to do something kind. You could teach your younger brother how to use a camera. A big surprise
Lucas
I love running, but I am usually not very fast. In the school race last week, the other boys looked very strong. I only wanted to finish the race and have fun. Near the end, my legs hurt, but I ran as fast as I could. I closed my eyes at the finish line. When the sports teacher put the silver medal around my neck, I could not believe it! I was so happy that I jumped up and down.
Mia
I play the piano. Last month, my music school had a big competition. I was very nervous. During my song, I played a bad note. I felt very sad and I wanted to go home early. I did not listen when the judges gave out the prizes. Suddenly, my dad shouted my name and smiled. I won a bronze medal! It was a wonderful surprise. My dad bought me a big ice cream to celebrate.
Toby
My science teacher asked me to enter a school competition. I made a small robot. My little sister helped me paint it. On the day of the competition, I thought the other students had much better machines. I was sitting outside and eating my lunch when I heard some loud clapping. The headteacher was holding my robot! Photography Clubs: Show your feelings!
City Smiles Club
Do you like busy places? In this club, we walk around the town centre and take pictures of the streets. We want to show the exciting feelings of the city. You can take photos of cars or children running. It is a great way to understand how things move. You must bring your own camera to this club. At the end of the year, we have a big show. Your parents can come and look at all your wonderful pictures!
Quiet Nature Photography
Sometimes school is difficult and you feel stressed. This club helps you find calm feelings. We visit the park near the school to take photos of nature. You can look carefully at beautiful flowers or little insects. When you photograph these small things, you can forget your problems and feel happy again. You do not need to take photos of people here. We just sit in the grass, breathe the fresh air and enjoy the silence. Come and try it on Thursday afternoons.
Friends on Camera
Do you want to show how much you care about your friends? In this club, you will learn how to take amazing pictures of the students in your class. You can show their true feelings, like when they look worried or when they are laughing. You do not have to buy a big, expensive camera for our lessons. It is fine to just use your mobile phone.
