Making daily video vlogs

Leo

This summer, I am making a video every day about my walks in the forest. I love filming the trees, birds, and small animals near my house. I put the vlogs on the internet for everyone to see. Filming is very fun, but watching all the videos and cutting them is really hard work. My older brother is good with computers, so he always does this part for me. Tomorrow, I want to film my family eating a picnic by the river.

Mia

I love baking cakes and biscuits, so my summer vlogs are all about food! I use my mobile phone to record myself in the kitchen. My phone is quite old, but the camera is still good. I do not want the whole world to see my videos. I just send them to my parents and my two best friends. They say my videos are very funny! I always try to make my vlogs under three minutes long because people get bored quickly.

Sam

During the school holidays, my family travels to many different cities. I film our trips every single day. Before the summer started, I worked in a café and saved money to buy a really good camera. It is much better than a phone! When we get back to the hotel at night, I sit on my bed and join the video clips together. Adding music and words to the screen is my favourite thing to do. My videos are often twenty minutes long!

A guide on how to pack your camera and headphones safely for a flight

    The Right Bag

When you travel by plane, you must choose the right bag. You should never put expensive things in your large suitcase. The workers at the airport can drop big bags. Then, your camera and headphones might break. You should keep these items in your small hand luggage. A backpack with soft sides is the best choice. You can carry it onto the plane. Put it under the seat in front of you. This keeps your things safe.

    Protecting the Camera

Your camera needs extra care before you fly. You do not want the screen to break during the journey. You should wrap your camera in soft clothes. You can use a warm jumper or a thick t-shirt. This protects it if your bag hits the floor. Also, you must take the battery out of the camera before you pack it. This stops the camera from turning on while you are travelling. You can put the battery in a small plastic bag.

    Sorting the Headphones

Headphones are easy to break, so you must pack them carefully. If you throw them into your bag, the long wires can get caught. When you pull them, they will break. To stop this, you should roll the cables up slowly. Then, put your headphones inside a special hard box. Do not leave the box at the top of your bag. Heavy things can fall on it and break your headphones. Put the box in the middle of your clothes.

      Learning about cultures through movies

      Tariq

I started watching Japanese movies last month with my mum and dad. The stories are really exciting! I did not know much about Japan before this. When we watch, I always look at the delicious meals the actors eat. I love cooking, so I tried to make some of those dishes at home! My friends at school only watch American films. I want to show them my favourite Japanese movie soon. Learning about a new country is great.

      Elena

My teacher asked us to find out about India. So, I decided to watch a famous Indian movie. I learned so much! I loved watching the actors dance to fast music. They wore very beautiful dresses and suits in bright colours. I wrote a lot about this for my homework. My parents usually watch TV with me, but they were busy. I watched one movie about the past, but I really prefer modern stories. Now, I want to visit India one day.

      Mateo

I love French culture, so I watch French movies every weekend. I usually watch them alone in my bedroom. I do not like new films, so I always choose old ones. They show how life in France was different many years ago. The actors speak very fast, but I understand some things. I learned how French people say hello and goodbye to their friends. I can also remember a few new words now! Next time, I will try to make French food.
