Our School Recycling Team
Jack
I love being active, so I do not want to sit at a desk. On Friday afternoons, I walk around the school and empty the recycling bins. I take the paper and plastic from every classroom and put them in the large bins outside. It is quite hard work, and we only have three people doing this job. We really want more students to join us! I don't use computers or draw pictures for the team, but I know my physical work is important.
Mia
I am not very strong, so I don't carry the heavy bags of plastic. Instead, I use my art skills to help. I paint bright posters and put them in the school halls. They show everyone exactly what things they can put in the recycling bins. I also visit the classes for five-year-olds. I talk to them about why we must keep our world clean. They always listen carefully. I want to make a video for the website next year, but I cannot do that yet.
Oliver
I am very good at maths and technology. Every Monday, I look at the plastic bottles and paper that we have. I count everything carefully and write the numbers in a book. Then, I type this information and put it on our school website so everyone can see it. It is great to see our numbers go up every month! I am terrible at drawing, so I never make the posters. My friends on the team do that, but I love doing the maths.

You will never see him get angry. He always works slowly and carefully with a big smile.

Emma uses her computer to do her school homework, but she prefers to be outside when she does her environment work.
Leo

Eco-Friendly Fashion
Mia
I love the planet, so I never buy brand new clothes. Making new T-shirts and jeans is very bad for the environment. Instead, I always go to charity shops in my town to look for second-hand things. It is like a fun game! I really enjoy looking for unusual coats or dresses that nobody else has. My friends often ask me where I get my clothes. I tell them that buying second-hand is the best way to help the earth.
Toby
I want to be eco-friendly, so I try to stop waste. People use a lot of water to make just one new T-shirt in a factory. Because of this, my friends and I often share our clothes. If I am bored with a shirt, I give it to my best friend. I also love cutting old jeans to make summer shorts. It is fun to change old clothes and make them look completely different. We can all help nature this way!
Lily
I think second-hand clothes are really cool because they have an interesting story. I do not go to clothes shops very often. Instead, I usually wear my older sister's old jumpers and my grandfather's jackets. He gave me a beautiful big coat last year! It is much better for the environment to keep wearing old things. Making clothes creates so much rubbish. I feel very happy when I wear my family's old clothes because I am not making more rubbish.
