How sports changed us

When I started playing football, I was very quiet. I never asked my teammates to pass the ball to me. I just ran around quietly! But football is a fast game, and you have to talk. Now, I always shout loudly to my team during a match. I am not shy anymore. I even talk to the players on the other teams after our games. I have made some great friends with people we play against.

Two years ago, I joined a basketball club. At first, I felt very nervous because lots of parents and students watched our games. I hated when everyone looked at me. But my team was very kind. Meet Our New Young Artists
Elena
Do you love the ocean? Then you will enjoy Elena’s art. She is fifteen and grew up in a quiet village near the sea. Now she lives in a big city, but she only paints pictures of the beach from her childhood. She uses many bright colours, like dark blue and yellow, to show the water and old boats. Elena taught herself to paint, although her mother is also an artist. Elena loves listening to loud rock music in her bedroom while she finishes her beautiful pictures.
Tariq
If you like reading comic books, you must look at Tariq’s work. He is fourteen and draws amazing pictures of busy streets and tall buildings. Tariq lives in the city centre, and he loves the noise and the people there. He does not use bright colours. In fact, he only draws with a black pen on white paper! Tariq’s grandfather was a clever artist and showed Tariq how to draw when he was a little boy. Tariq hopes to make his own book one day.

Our Weekend Clothes
Lucas
I love going for long walks in the mountains on Saturdays. The weather can change quickly, so I always wear a rain jacket. It keeps me dry if it rains. I also choose bright colours like red or yellow. This helps other walkers see me easily from far away! On my feet, I wear very heavy boots. They protect my feet on the rocks. I never wear my nice school clothes for this because they are not strong enough.
Chloe
Every Sunday, I go to a street dance class with my friends. It is important to feel comfortable, so I never wear tight jeans. I usually put on very large, loose trousers.
