Choosing a song for a dance

Mia

I wanted to use a fast pop song for our dance show. I love dancing quickly! But my partner, Anna, wanted to use slow jazz music. We talked for a long time but we couldn't agree. Finally, we had a good idea. We decided to use both! We played Anna's slow song for the first minute. Then, the music changed to my fast song. It was a lot of work to practice, but everyone loved it.

Leo

My friend Tom and I like very different music. I wanted to do our dance to a loud rock song. Tom said no because he only likes hip-hop. We talked about it for two days! In the end, we went to our dance teacher for help. She listened to us and then she chose a new pop song for us. At first, I wasn't sure. But when we started dancing, it was actually really fun.

Zoe

For our school project, my friend Lisa and I needed a song. I wanted to use a famous song from the radio because everyone knows it. Lisa didn't want that. She wanted to dance to a very old song from the 1980s. I thought that was boring. Then, I found a video online. A new band was singing Lisa's old song, but they made it sound really modern. We both loved it, so we used that!

Teaching our parents a board game

      Leo

I got a new board game for my birthday. It is a very difficult game about building cities. I asked my parents to play it with me on Sunday. My dad said the rule book was too long, so he didn't want to read it. When we started, my parents just invented their own rules! I tried to explain the correct way to play, but they didn't listen. After two hours, we were all very tired. We put the game away before we found a winner.

      Maya

My favourite game is about travelling in space. I wanted to teach my parents how to play it. The problem is that the game has hundreds of small plastic parts. My mum didn't know what to do with them! Then, I couldn't find the little book that tells you how to play. I looked everywhere but it was lost. We tried to remember the rules, but we made a lot of mistakes. We played the whole game anyway and laughed a lot.

      Toby

I bought a new card game last week. The rules are quite hard to understand. I played it with my friends first because I wanted to learn everything about it. On Friday evening, I taught my mum and dad how to play. We sat at the kitchen table and I carefully explained all the cards. We started our first game and my dad was amazing. He got the most points and beat me easily! We enjoyed it so much that we played it again.
