Organizing a neighborhood football match

Marco

I always arrive at the park early on Saturday mornings. The grass is sometimes too long, so my dad helps me cut it. Then, I use white paint to draw the lines for the pitch. It takes about an hour to get the playing area ready. I also bring my own football because the other kids often forget theirs. Last week, it started raining, but we played anyway. My brother wanted to make the teams, but I told him to wait for Ali.

David

My job is to invite everyone to the match. I always send a message on our group chat on Friday evenings. I use my smartphone to check if it will be sunny or rainy. If the weather is bad, we play the next day. I also go to the supermarket to buy cold water and juice. I bring these drinks for the players to have during the break. Marco brings the ball, but I usually bring some snacks for after the game.

Ali

When everyone arrives, I have to choose the players for each group. I mix the older and younger kids so one side is not too strong. It is important to make sure the game is fair for everyone. During the match, I run around with the players, but I also watch the rules. Sometimes the boys get angry and shout at each other. When that happens, I blow my whistle and stop them from arguing. We always drink water together at the end.

Advice: When your best friend doesn't like your favourite band

    Teen Talk

It is completely normal if you and your best friend like different things. You do not have to share everything! If your friend hates your favourite band, please do not make them listen to their songs. This will only make them angry. Instead, you can put on your headphones and enjoy the music on your own. It is great to lie on your bed and listen to your favourite singer. You can still be great friends without sharing the same music!

    Music Mates

Does your best friend hate your favourite rock music? Do not worry! You can still do many fun activities with your friend. You can play sports, watch funny films, or go shopping together. When you want to talk about your favourite band, you should find new people. You can join a music club at your school and meet other students who love the same songs. You can go to concerts with these new friends, and keep your best friend for other hobbies!

    The Playlist Plan

You and your best friend can still enjoy music together, even if you like different bands. You should sit down and make a long list of songs. You can add five of your songs, and your friend can add five of their songs. Then, you can listen to the list together! Also, you can spend some time on the internet to look for a completely new music group. It is very fun to find a great new band that you both really love!

      Making a handmade gift

      Tom

My grandfather loves watching birds in his garden. For his birthday, I decided to make him a small wooden house for the birds. I am not very good at making things, so my dad helped me cut the wood. We worked on it every evening after school for two weeks. It was hard work! Finally, we painted it green and gave it to my grandfather. He was very happy and put it in his favourite tree immediately.

      Sara

I usually draw pictures with pencils, but for my mum’s birthday, I wanted to do something new. I bought some colourful paints and painted a big picture of our pet dog. I painted it on the kitchen table. Unfortunately, I dropped the red paint on the floor and I had to wash it for an hour! However, my mum thought the picture was beautiful. She loved it and now it is on the wall in the living room for everyone to look at.

      Liam

It was my little sister’s fifth birthday last weekend. I wanted to bake her a special chocolate cake. I found a great book in the library and read the pages carefully. But when I started cooking, I saw that we didn't have enough sugar. I couldn't go to the supermarket, so I used some honey instead. I was a bit worried, but the cake was delicious. My sister ate two big pieces and asked me to make it again!
