Advice for helping a stressed friend
StudyBuddy
When your friend is feeling worried about tests, they often study too much. You should tell them to stop and take a break. Going for a walk in the park together is a great idea. Fresh air helps people feel calm. You can also play a sport like tennis or football. Exercise is very good for stress. Remind them to leave their books at home! If they are still worried later, you can ask them questions about their notes.
TeenMind
Sometimes friends just need someone to talk to when exams are coming. You do not need to give them advice. Just sit with them and listen carefully to their feelings. It is important not to talk about school work or difficult subjects. Instead, you can watch a funny film together to make them laugh. Cooking their favourite meal is another excellent way to help. Good food always makes people feel happier when they are having a bad day.
School Wellbeing
If your friend has too much to learn, they might feel afraid. You can help them write a study timetable. When they have a good plan, the work feels easier. You can also help them clean their desk. A tidy room helps you think clearly. Make sure your friend doesn't stay awake all night to read. Sleep is very important before a big test. Send them a nice text message in the evening to remind them to go to bed early.

Helping Our Siblings with Schoolwork
Leo
I always help my little brother with his maths homework. We do it in the kitchen after we finish our evening meal. I am very good at maths, but my brother finds it hard. Sometimes I feel a bit angry when he doesn't understand simple things. He also looks at his phone a lot. I think he learns much faster when there is no noise in the room. I want to play games with him, but we must finish the homework first!
Sara
My sister has problems with reading. She thinks books are really boring, so she never wants to read. I love reading, so I try to help her at the weekend. I don't get angry with her. Instead, we play word games on the computer together. This makes it fun for her, and she learns new words quickly. She is usually hungry after this, so we go downstairs to eat some pizza. Next week, we are going to start a short story.
Tom
I help my younger sister with her science projects. We usually do this in the afternoon, as soon as we get home from school. Science is my favourite subject, but my sister is very clever. Sometimes she knows the correct answer before I do! We make a big mess on the table with our projects, but our parents don't mind. We talk a lot while we work, so it is never quiet in our house. It is a great way to spend time together.

School Clubs for Shy Students
Board Game Club
Do you feel nervous when you meet new people? The Board Game Club is a great place to start! You do not have to talk a lot here. We play fun games like chess and puzzles in the school library every Friday afternoon. It is easy to make friends when you are playing a game together. We have many games, but you can also bring your favourite game from your house. Come and join us for a quiet and relaxing time!
Nature Walk Club
If you are shy, talking to people in a busy classroom can be hard. Why not join our Nature Walk Club? We walk together in the park near the school every Saturday morning. Walking side by side makes talking much easier! You will meet friendly students and learn interesting facts about local birds and trees. We do not walk when it rains, so you do not need an umbrella. Put on your comfortable shoes and enjoy the fresh air with us!
Art & Craft Club
Making art is a wonderful way to find new friends. In the Art & Craft Club, we work in small groups to paint and build beautiful things. You can talk to your team while your hands are busy.
