Working well in group tasks
The Quiet Student
When you work with a very quiet student, do not think they have no ideas. They usually think a lot before they speak. You should ask them questions gently. Say, "What do you think about this?" and give them time to answer. It is a good idea to let them write their thoughts on paper first. Make sure other people do not talk when it is their turn. Remember, they often see small mistakes that other group members miss.
The Fast Worker
Some students always want to finish everything very quickly. This is useful because your group will finish on time. But sometimes, they make mistakes because they do not check their work carefully. You can help by saying, "Let's look at this one more time." Give them the job of watching the clock for the group. If they feel bored, ask them to find some photos for your project. This keeps them busy while the others finish their parts.
The Group Leader
You might have a student in your group who wants to make all the decisions. They often speak loudly and tell everyone what to do. This can make you feel angry, but try to stay calm. You should listen to their plan, but also share your own ideas. Tell them, "That is a good idea, but we also need to do this." Give them a big job like writing the final text. This shows you respect them, but everyone still works together.

Preparing for a School Presentation
Liam
I had to do a geography presentation. I had lots of good information, but I didn't have any pictures. My mum is very good at using computers. She sat with me and helped me make a beautiful slideshow to show my classmates. After that, I read my text out loud to her. I was worried because we only had five minutes to speak, and my text was very long. My mum helped me cut some sentences so I could finish on time.
Chloe
I always feel sick before I speak in front of people. I asked my dad for help because he talks to big groups at his job. He told me to smile and look at my friends' faces, not at the floor. He also said I needed to speak much louder so everyone could hear me. The night before the presentation, my grandparents came for dinner. I stood in the living room and practiced my talk for all of them!
Noah
My history presentation was about old castles, but I didn't know anything about them. My dad took me to the library in town. We spent hours there, and he helped me choose the best books to get ideas for my talk. I wrote everything down in my notebook. Then, my dad read my work carefully. I am not very good at spelling, so he helped me change the wrong words. I read it to him quietly, and I felt ready.
