Our science project on saving water
Liam
My project was about using less water in the bathroom. I learned that having a short shower is better than a bath. I also asked my parents and sister to turn off the water when they clean their teeth. It was not easy to make them listen to me! They often forgot. But I wrote a good report and my teacher gave me top marks. I felt very proud. Next time, I want to work with a classmate because doing it alone was a lot of work.
Chloe
For my science project, I looked at how we use water in the garden. My best friend Emma and I did this homework together. We decided to put a big plastic box outside to catch rain. Then, we used this rainwater for the flowers and vegetables. Our teacher asked us to draw a large poster with all our information. It was really fun to paint it. We also wrote about fixing broken pipes, but we didn't actually do that at home.
Noah
I studied the kitchen for my water project. First, I watched how my family washed the dishes. Then, my dad and I looked under the sink. We found a small problem where water was dropping out. Dad showed me how to repair it. It was very interesting. Before this project, I often left the water running when I washed my hands. Now I always close it quickly. I am happy that I understand how to help the planet.

School eco-clubs: Tree planting in the park
Green Leaves Club
Welcome to the Green Leaves Club! We plant trees in the local park on the first Saturday of every month. Planting trees is hard work, so you must wear old trousers and strong boots. You will definitely get dirty! We do not have enough equipment for everyone. Please remember to bring some tools from home to dig the holes with. You will also need a big bottle of water because you will get very thirsty. See you at nine o'clock near the main park gates!
Nature Heroes
Do you want to help the environment? Join the Nature Heroes! Every month, we spend Sunday morning putting new trees in our beautiful park. You just need to bring lots of energy. Working together makes the job really fun. When we finish planting at midday, we always have a picnic. The club provides delicious sandwiches and sweet fruit for everyone to enjoy. Don't forget your mobile phone! We want you to take lots of photos to put on the school website.
Park Savers
The Park Savers club meets once a month to make our local park greener. We usually plant trees for two hours. Our teacher, Mr. Jones, tells us all about the different plants and birds in the park. You will learn a lot of new information! It is a great activity for families, so your mother and father are welcome to come and help. We never stop for rain. If the weather is wet, just bring an umbrella and a warm jacket!

Organizing a paper recycling competition
Alex
Our science teacher started a paper recycling competition last month. We really wanted to be the best class! My friends and I asked all our neighbours for their old newspapers and magazines. Every morning, we brought heavy bags of paper to school. We counted everything carefully, and our class had the most in the whole school. We won the first prize, and our teacher bought us pizza! We still collect paper now because we know it is good for the environment.
Bella
My class decided to join the school recycling competition. We didn't collect the most paper, but we worked very hard. I am good at drawing, so I made big posters. I put them on the walls to tell other students to recycle their old notebooks. We also used some of the old paper to make beautiful art for the classroom. We didn't win a prize, but we felt very happy. We learned a lot about helping the planet.
Charlie
Our headteacher told us about a recycling competition in the morning. We put a big blue box in our classroom for everyone to use. Students put their old homework and letters in it. Every Friday afternoon, my friend and I checked how heavy the box was. It was always full of paper! At the end, we got a special letter of thanks from the headteacher. Our classroom is also much cleaner now!
