How our parents help us finish our homework
Carlos
I love playing video games, but I often forget to do my homework. Now, my parents have a good idea. They give me points when I finish my school work quickly. If I get enough points by Friday, I can play online with my friends for two extra hours at the weekend. I cannot go out until my homework is done. This helps me to work fast. Sometimes my mum sits with me while I study, but she never gives me the answers!
Aisha
I get very stressed when I have a lot of homework. My dad helps me by making a list. We cut the big jobs into small parts. When I finish one small part, we take a short break. During the break, we eat a nice snack together, like an apple or some cake. My little brother often plays video games in the next room, but I do not look at his screen. I just think about my delicious food! Then I feel ready to study again.
Ben
My parents are very busy with their jobs, so they cannot help me with my homework. But they still make me want to study. If I finish all my school work from Monday to Friday without complaining, I can choose what we do on Sunday. I usually choose to go to the cinema or play football in the park. We always have our dinner together first. I work hard all week because I really want to have a fun family day at the weekend.

Kindness and teamwork in the classroom
Group Projects
Working on group projects is fun when everyone helps. You should give every person in your team a job to do. Do not leave all the work for one student. When someone shares an idea, you should tell them it is good. Sometimes, people in the group cannot agree. If your team is angry, you must ask your teacher for help. Remember, you can get a better mark when you all work together nicely. Make sure your team space is quiet.
Helping New Students
It is often hard when you start at a new school. You can be a good friend to new students. You should talk to them and help them find important rooms, like the library and the toilets. If you see someone sitting alone in the cafeteria, ask them to have their food with you. Do not just chat with your old friends. You must smile and say hello. Sometimes you can invite them to do a group project with you too.
Classroom Rules
We want all our classes to be a happy place. You must respect other students when you are in the classroom. If your classmate is answering a question, you should wait until they finish talking. Do not speak loudly when others are working. Teamwork also means looking after the room. At the end of the lesson, you must put your rubbish in the bin and leave your workspace tidy. This helps the teacher and the next students who come into the room.

A strict but fair teacher
Lucas
Mr Clark is my maths teacher. In the past, I never did my homework at home. I tried to do it on the bus to school. Mr Clark was very strict about this. One day, he told me to stay in the classroom after school. I had to finish all my maths exercises there. I was angry, but then he helped me with the difficult questions. I understood that he just wanted to help me. Now, I always do my homework before I watch TV.
Elena
I love science now, but I didn't like it last year. I talked a lot with my friends, and I didn't listen. Mrs Smith is a strict teacher. She told me I must not talk, and she moved my chair to the front of the room. I thought she didn't like me. But when I got a good mark in a test, she smiled and told the class I did a great job. I felt really happy. I always listen carefully to her now.
Toby
My English teacher, Mr Jones, is very fair, but he doesn't accept bad work. Before I joined his class, I wrote very quickly and never checked my spelling. When he gave my first story back, there was red pen everywhere! I felt quite sad. But he sat next to me and said I had great ideas. He told me to write it again slowly. I worked hard on it. When I finished, it looked fantastic. For the first time, I loved my own writing!
