School Uniform Sales

Riverside School

Do you need new winter uniforms for your children? Come to the Riverside School sale this Saturday! You do not need to bring money. Instead, you can bring old uniforms that are too small and change them for bigger sizes. We only accept clean clothes. While you look at the trousers and warm sweaters, you can enjoy a hot drink and some nice cakes. The parents' club is making these to share with everyone. See you in the main hall at 10 a.m.

Oakwood School

Our Oakwood School uniform sale happens every year. This time, we have a lot of sports clothes and football boots. Everything is very cheap. We want to buy some new computers for the library, and the money from this sale will help us do that. You cannot just walk in this year. You must visit our school website and choose a time to come. This helps us keep the room quiet and safe. We hope to see you on Sunday afternoon!

Greenhill School

Welcome to the Greenhill School uniform shop! We are open on Friday evening in the sports hall. You will find many skirts, shirts, and jackets here. Most of these clothes are actually completely new. Some parents bought the wrong sizes for their children and gave them to us. Remember to stop at the bank first. You can only pay with coins and paper money because our card machine is broken. We have bags for you to carry your clothes home.

Answer Key & Explanations

7 C - Reason: Greenhill School says the clothes are "completely new". Riverside School mentions "new winter uniforms", but this is a trap because you actually swap them for old ones.

8 B - Reason: Oakwood School says the money will "help us" to "buy some new computers for the library".

9 A - Reason: Riverside School offers "some nice cakes" to visitors.

10 B - Reason: Oakwood School says "You must visit our school website" before coming.

11 C - Reason: Greenhill School says "You can only pay with coins and paper money".

12 A - Reason: Riverside School says "You do not need to bring money" because you can "change them for bigger sizes".

13 C - Reason: Greenhill School is "in the sports hall". Oakwood School has a trap because it sells "sports clothes", but the sale is not in a sports room.

    Saving for the school dance

    Leo

The school dance is next month, and I want to look great. I am saving my pocket money to buy a nice jacket. To get extra money, I help my parents every weekend. I wash the family car and clean the windows. It is hard work! I saw a beautiful jacket in the town centre. It is in a shop that sells old clothes. It is not new, but it looks fantastic and it is very cheap. I think I can buy it next week.

    Maya

I want to buy a beautiful long dress for the dance. It is in a shop window near my school, but it costs a lot. My parents give me a little pocket money, but I need more. Now, I wash cars for my neighbours and walk their dogs. It is fun! But keeping my money is very hard. When I walk past the shop, I often buy chocolate or sweet drinks. I hope I can save enough money before the dance!

    Sam

I do not want to buy a new shirt or trousers for the dance. I have some nice black clothes in my bedroom. But I really want some cool new shoes! Usually, I spend my pocket money on cinema tickets with my friends on Saturdays. Now, I stay at home and watch TV instead. Because I stopped going to the cinema, I finally have all the money I need. I am going to the shoe shop tomorrow to buy them!

    Answer Key & Explanations

7 B - Reason: Text B says that "keeping my money is very hard" because Maya often buys chocolate or drinks.

8 C - Reason: Text C says that Sam "finally have all the money I need" for his shoes.

9 A - Reason: Text A says that Leo found a jacket in a "shop that sells old clothes" and it "is not new".

10 C - Reason: Text C says that Sam only wants to buy "some cool new shoes" for the dance.

11 B - Reason: Text B says that Maya washes cars and walks dogs for her "neighbours" (people who live near her).

12 C - Reason: Text C says that Sam "stopped going to the cinema" with his friends on Saturdays to save money.

13 A - Reason: Text A says that Leo does chores to "help my parents every weekend" to get extra money.

      Sports Clothes Guide

      Indoor PE

Welcome to indoor PE! You will do gymnastics and basketball in the sports hall. You must wear shorts and a comfortable T-shirt. Please make sure your sports shoes are completely clean. We do not want to make the floor dirty. It is very important to leave your watches and rings in your classroom. They are dangerous when you play sports. You will get very hot. Please bring a full bottle of water with you.

      Outdoor Games

For outdoor PE, you will play football and hockey on the school field. The weather is often cold, so you need to wear a warm jumper. Do not wear shorts! Your shoes will easily get dirty in the wet grass. Please bring a plastic bag from home. You can put your dirty shoes in it after the lesson. You must also remember to leave your mobile phone in your school bag. Do not bring it on the field.

      Swimming Lessons

Our swimming lessons are at the city pool. You need to bring a swimsuit and a large towel. Everyone must wear a swimming hat in the water. After the lesson, you can have a shower. You do not need to bring soap from home. The pool gives it to everyone for free. You cannot take your daily clothes to the pool side. You have to put them in a locker. You will need a small coin to use this.
