Our "No Uniform" Charity Day

Sam

My friends and I decided to do something funny for the charity day. We all wore big bear costumes! It was a great idea because everyone laughed when we walked into the classroom. We looked exactly the same. The only problem was the weather. It was a very sunny day, so I felt really hot inside the heavy suit. I couldn’t wait to take it off after school! Next year, I will just wear jeans and a T-shirt.

Mia

I love sports, so I wore my favourite football shirt and comfortable shorts. I play for a local team, but this shirt is new. I bought it in town last weekend with my pocket money. A lot of people wore funny costumes, but I wanted to run around and play games in the park at lunchtime. My friends thought I looked like a real player. I didn't give money, but I brought some cakes to sell for the charity.

Tom

Most people wore casual clothes, but I wanted to look like my dad! I wore a white shirt, a black jacket, and a tie. The teachers smiled when they saw me because I looked like them. Every student had to bring two pounds for the charity, and I gave mine to my teacher in the morning. I liked my outfit, but my smart black shoes really hurt my toes by the end of the day. I usually wear trainers!

           A Leo   B Mia   C Sam

      Are expensive brands important?

      Leo

I don't understand why people pay so much for famous clothing brands. For me, clothes just need to be clean and comfortable. I buy cheap t-shirts and jeans from the supermarket. Some students laugh at my shoes, but I don't care. I get lots of pocket money, but I never spend it on expensive jackets. I save it to buy new computer games! My clothes are cheap, but they feel great. I think wearing famous names to school is silly.

      Mia

I love wearing nice clothes to school. Some people say famous brands are too expensive, but I think they are better. When you buy cheap trousers, they often break easily. A good brand stays nice for a long time. But I am careful with my money. I never pay the normal price for them. I always wait for the winter sales when the shops make them cheaper. That way, I can look good and keep some money in my bag!

      Sam

At my school, everyone wears expensive trainers and jackets. If you wear cheap things, people sometimes say bad things to you. I just want to be the same as my friends. My mum and dad tell me that famous brands cost too much money. They only buy me normal clothes. Because of this, I keep all the money I get for my birthday. After a few months, I can finally go to the sports shop and get the trainers I really want.

      Answer Key & Explanations
