Guidelines on turning off phone notifications at night

Use 'Do Not Disturb'

Are you tired when you wake up? You can use the 'Do Not Disturb' button on your phone. You can tell your phone to stay quiet from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. During this time, it will not make any noise. Put your phone on a desk across the room, not next to your pillow. Do not worry about danger. You can make a special list of phone numbers. If your parents call you, the phone will still ring loudly.

Check Your Apps

Your phone is full of fun apps, but they can keep you awake. Before you go to sleep, turn off the sounds for your social media. If you want to relax, do not look at your screen. It is much better to read a paper book in bed. If you really must use your phone, you should change the light on your screen. A dark yellow light is better for your eyes at night. You will fall asleep much faster.

Go Offline

The easiest way to get a good night of sleep is to turn off your internet. You can use 'Airplane Mode' when you get into bed. You will not get any messages or emails until the morning. You should tell your friends about your new sleep plan. Then, they will not feel angry when you do not answer their chats. Also, do not use your phone as an alarm. Buy a real clock to wake you up in the morning.

Learning a new dance from a video

    Harper

I saw a very famous dance video on my phone last week. My younger sister wanted to learn it with me. We practiced every evening in our living room. It was really hard at first! I showed my school friends, but they didn't want to try. We finally learned all the steps yesterday. I was happy, but I really hated the pop music in the video. I never want to hear that song again! I prefer to listen to rock music.

    Ravi

My brother showed me a cool dance video on the internet. I decided to learn it. I went into the garden to practice because my bedroom is too small. The boy in the video moved very slowly, so I understood everything quickly. When I was ready, I asked my dad to film me. I put my video online and lots of people wrote nice things! Some people told me to enter a dance competition, but I only dance for fun.

    Maya

Three of my classmates and I love watching short dance videos. We found a new routine and decided to learn it for the school talent show next month. We watched the video many times. We loved the fast song, but we couldn't do some of the difficult jumps. So, we used different, easier steps for that part of the dance. We are going to practice again tomorrow. I really hope we win first prize!

Safe and simple home exercise tips

      Wake Up and Move

Do you feel tired when you wake up? Stretching is a great way to start your day. You do not need any special shoes or expensive things. Just find a quiet place on your bedroom floor. Reach your arms high above your head. Then, try to touch your feet. Hold this for ten seconds. If you do this every morning, your back and legs will feel great. Remember to drink a large glass of water after you finish.

      Strong at Home

You can build strong arms and legs without leaving your house. Try doing some simple jumps and push-ups. These exercises are very good for your heart. You should only do them three times a week so your body can rest. Do not exercise if you feel pain in your knees or arms. Stop immediately and sit down. You can ask a family member to watch you. They can check that you are doing the exercises safely.

      Dance to the Music

Exercise does not have to be boring. Dancing is a fantastic way to move your body and have fun. You can do this alone in your bedroom or invite your friends to join you online. Put on your favourite pop songs and just move fast! Try to dance for at least twenty minutes. Make sure you wear comfortable clothes like a t-shirt and shorts. You will get very warm, so you should open a window to let fresh air in.
