Texting the Coach
Oliver
When I am sick and cannot play football, I always text my coach very early in the morning. I do this because I do not want to wake him up later. I only write a few words. I just say my name, that I feel bad, and I cannot come to training. My coach always sends a nice message back. He tells me to rest and drink lots of water. My dad usually calls him later to talk about the next game.
Maya
Last year, my mum always texted my basketball coach when I was ill. But now I am fourteen, so I write the messages myself. I always feel sad when I miss training. In my text, I ask my coach what the team is doing that day. When my headache goes away, I try to do some of the same exercises in my bedroom or garden. I want to be ready for the weekend match! Sometimes my coach sends a video of the team.
Lucas
I am not very good at remembering to text my tennis coach. Sometimes I only send a message ten minutes before our lesson starts! I know this is bad, and I always say sorry. When I have a cold or a bad stomach, I sometimes take a photo of my medicine and send it to him. I want him to know I am truly sick! Usually, I write a long message to explain everything. My coach is very kind and never gets angry.

Advice on finding safe health information online
The Writer Rule
When you feel ill and look online, you must check who wrote the page. Is the writer a real doctor or nurse? Sometimes, people just write about their own lives. You should also find out the date. Old health information might not be safe anymore. Be careful if a website says you will feel better in just one hour. Real medicine takes time. You do not need to ask a friend to help you check. Just read carefully before you believe anything.
The Website Address
It is important to look at the letters at the end of a website name. Names that end in '.gov' or '.edu' belong to schools and hospitals. These are usually safe places to read about health. Other websites might just want to make money. If a page asks you to buy their special tea or pills, do not use it. Even if a page has a picture of a doctor, you should not trust it. Always look for free information that does not sell anything.
The Three-Page Test
Never trust the very first webpage you click on. You should always read three or four different websites to see if they give the same advice. If one website says something completely different, it is probably wrong. After you read the information, it is a good idea to talk to an adult. Show the web pages to your parents or your school nurse. They can help you understand the big words and check if the advice is actually safe for you to follow.
Answer Key & Explanations
7 A - Reason: Text A says you should "find out the date" because old information might not be safe.
8 C - Reason: Text C says it is a good idea to "talk to an adult" like your parents or school nurse. (Text A uses a negative trap by saying "You do not need to ask a friend").

10 A - Reason: Text A tells you to check if the writer is "a real doctor or nurse". (Text B uses a shared word trap by mentioning a "picture of a doctor").
11 B - Reason: Text B says websites might "want to make money" and tells you not to use them if they ask you to "buy their special tea or pills".
12 C - Reason: Text C says you should always "read three or four different websites".
13 A - Reason: Text A warns you to "Be careful if a website says you will feel better in just one hour."

The 30-Day Healthy Eating Challenge
Lucas
I wanted to eat better, so I joined the 30-day healthy eating challenge. In the first week, I really wanted to stop. It was not easy to change my food! I usually eat lots of bread and pasta. But then I started cooking dinner with my dad every evening. We made amazing salads and fish. My friend told me he wants to do it next month. I am happy I finished the 30 days, but I am ready for a big pizza now!
Maya
I play tennis for my school, and I needed more energy for my matches. That is why I started this 30-day challenge online. The rules were simple. I had to drink more water and I couldn't eat any chocolate or cake. I love sweet things, so I missed them a lot. I found a great website with videos showing how to cook healthy chicken dishes. The meals were very easy to make. I won my tennis match yesterday, so the healthy food really helped!
Finn
My classmate Sam asked me to join the healthy eating challenge with him, so I said yes. We do not play any sports, but we wanted to feel healthy. Before the challenge, I always had biscuits for breakfast. During the 30 days, I ate new vegetables like carrots. My older brother often makes my dinner, but I made my own healthy breakfasts. The challenge is over now, but I still want to eat fruit every morning. I feel so good!
