Town Improvement Meetings
Green Town
Do you want to make our town more beautiful? Join the Green Town online meeting this Tuesday! We will talk about cleaning up the local parks and planting new trees near the river. If you want to help nature, this is the perfect group for you. You must send an email to Mr. Smith before Monday to get the video link. You do not need to bring any special ideas to your first meeting. Just come and listen!
Safe Streets
It is important to feel safe when you walk or ride your bike around town. Our next video call is on Thursday evening. We want your ideas for adding more street lights and building safer bike paths. The town police chief will also join our call to listen to your opinions. You need to be between 13 and 16 years old to enter this meeting. Please wear your school uniform on the camera so we know who you are.
Fun Weekends
Are you bored at the weekend? Let’s change that! In our Wednesday online meeting, we will plan new activities for teenagers in our town. We want to open a new youth club and build an outdoor sports area. Everyone has great ideas, so you must speak for two minutes during the call. You can also invite a friend from another town to watch the meeting with you. However, only people who live here can choose the best ideas.

Sharing Petitions for Local Wildlife
Oliver
I love the small pond in our town park because many green frogs live there. Last month, I heard the town wanted to build a car park over it. I started an online petition to stop them. I sent the link to my classmates in a phone message group. Then, I showed the petition to my headteacher. I was so happy when she signed it too! In the end, we saved the pond. Now, the frogs are safe, and I still visit them every weekend.
Sofia
Some big old trees grow near my street. Lots of beautiful birds sleep there. When workers said they must cut the trees down, I felt very angry. I took some photos of the birds and put them online. Then, I wrote a petition to save the trees. I emailed it to my aunts and uncles. They shared it with their friends on the internet. Soon, thousands of people wrote their names. The workers saw our petition and decided to leave the trees alone.
Leo
Our local river is full of plastic rubbish, and the fish are dying. I wanted to help, so I made an online petition to clean the water. In the beginning, nobody signed it. I was quite sad about that. So, I used my camera to make a short film about the dirty river. A popular town news website saw it and put my petition on their front page. After that, many people signed it quickly. Next week, we are all going to clean the river!

Saving Energy on Your Computer
The Big Clean
Do you know that old emails use a lot of energy? A good idea is to do a 'big clean' on your computer once a month. You should look for emails with large pictures or long videos. These emails use the most energy on the internet. You do not need to delete short messages from your friends. Just find the biggest files and put them in the bin. This is a very fast way to help the planet!
Stop the Shops
How many emails do you get from shops every day? Many people get hundreds of messages about clothes or new games. You usually do not read them, but they still use electricity! When you get an email from a shop, you should find the word 'unsubscribe' at the bottom and click it. This tells the shop to stop sending you messages. You can do this every morning while you eat breakfast. It makes your email box much quieter!
Keep and Bin
It is easy to lose important school messages if your email box is full. You should make a special folder for emails from your teachers. When you get a new school message, move it to this folder. Then, at the end of the school year, you can delete everything else! You do not need to keep emails about old homework. Deleting thousands of messages together saves a lot of computer space and helps the environment.
