Digital diary apps

PocketFeelings

Do you want to remember your daily moods but you are always busy? PocketFeelings is perfect for you because it takes just one minute a day. You do not have to type long sentences. You just tap a little picture on the screen to show if you feel happy, sad or tired. Only you can read it, because you must enter a secret word to open the app. Next month, we will add a button to hide your screen quickly, but for now, nobody can guess your password.

MyDailyCloud

MyDailyCloud is a wonderful space to write about your day. You can type as many words as you want, and you can also put your favourite song on the page to match your mood. The app remembers everything, so you can look back and read how you felt last month. You do not need to worry if your phone has no wi-fi. MyDailyCloud works without the internet! You can also write special words on your pictures, but there are no passwords to remember.

MindJournal

Sometimes it is hard to know what to write about your feelings. Every morning, MindJournal gives you a new question to answer. This makes writing very easy! You can write about your friends, your family or the bands you listen to. If a brother or sister walks into your bedroom while you are typing, you just tap the screen once. The app hides your diary immediately! You must have an internet connection to use MindJournal, so it is best to sit at home to write.

    A weekend without screens

    Leo

I used to play video games all weekend. I often got angry when I lost, and I didn't feel happy. Last month, I decided to leave my phone and computer alone for two days. Instead, I went for long walks in the forest near my house. It was amazing! I feel much calmer now. I still chat with my friends online sometimes, but I don't get stressed anymore. I definitely prefer being outside.

    Maya

Before my digital detox, I always checked my social media. I wanted everyone to like my photos. Looking at the screen at night meant I was always tired the next day. During my weekend without screens, I stayed in my bedroom and found some old pencils. I started drawing, and I loved it! I don't care about getting likes on the internet anymore. I feel much braver and more confident about myself now.

    Toby

I loved watching funny videos on my tablet, but I never talked to my family. We just sat in the same room in silence. My parents asked me to try a screen-free weekend. At first, I hated it! But then we played some great board games together. Now, I am much more talkative and friendly. I enjoy having real conversations with my mum and dad. I even tried drawing on paper, but I'm terrible at it!

      Advice for online group chats

      Chat Champions

Do you feel nervous when you join a big online group? It is a good idea to say hello first. Tell people your name and one hobby you like. You do not have to write a lot. Read what other people are saying before you add your ideas. If someone shares a photo or a story, you can ask them a short question about it. This shows you are listening and helps you make new friends easily.

      Happy Typing

When you chat online with lots of people, always use kind words like 'please' and 'thank you'. Remember that people cannot see your face, so they might not understand a joke. Never write your messages in big capital letters. People often think that means you are shouting at them! Sometimes, conversations move very fast. You should read your message carefully before you click send. You can always wait a minute if you feel angry.

      Cool Connections

Large group chats can be fun, but they are sometimes very noisy. You do not have to answer every message. It is fine to just read quietly sometimes. If someone says something mean to you, do not say something bad back to them. You should just say nothing or tell an adult. In the past, people often shared their phone numbers in chat rooms. Today, you must never give your personal information to people you do not know.
