Taking travel photos for our blog

    Leo

I write a travel blog with my friends. When I travel, I love waking up very early to take photos. The morning light makes everything look beautiful. I don't have an expensive camera. I just use my mobile phone and the pictures are great. I never change my photos before I put them on the blog. I usually take photos of birds and animals in the forest. My dad taught me a lot about photography when I was young. I don't usually take photos of our meals!

    Maya

For our travel blog, I always take photos of tall city buildings. I think they are very interesting to look at. I prefer taking pictures late at night because the city lights are amazing. Last year, my mother gave me a real camera for my birthday. It takes much better photos than my mobile phone, so I never use my phone for the blog now. My family loves visiting museums on holiday, but I just want to walk around and photograph the city.

    Sam

I love exploring food markets when I travel. I always take photos of the strange food people sell. I don't really enjoy taking pictures of famous buildings or nature. I want a new camera for my birthday next year, but for now, I borrow my brother's camera. Before I put my photos on our travel blog, I spend time making the colours look better on my computer. I learned how to do this by watching lessons on the internet. It helps make my blog posts popular!

    Answer Key & Explanations

9 B - Reason: Maya says, "my mother gave me a real camera for my birthday." Sam says he wants one next year, which is a trap.

11 C - Reason: Sam says, "I spend time making the colours look better on my computer" before posting. Leo says he never changes his photos.

12 B - Reason: Maya says, "I always take photos of tall city buildings." Sam mentions buildings but says he does not enjoy photographing them.

13 C - Reason: Sam says he learned to improve his photos by "watching lessons on the internet." Leo learned from his dad, which is a distractor.

Advice on how to scan e-tickets on your smartphone

      Before You Arrive

You must make sure your phone is ready before you go to the train station. First, check that your battery is full. If your phone dies, you cannot show your e-ticket! Next, make your screen very bright so the machine can read the ticket easily. Do you have a broken phone screen? If the glass is badly damaged, the scanner might not work. In this case, you should print your ticket on paper at home just to be safe.

      Opening Your Ticket

When you take the train, always open your ticket in the official station app. You should never take a photo of the ticket to use later. The machines cannot read screenshots. Many teenagers worry that they need to use the station's Wi-Fi. However, once you download the ticket into the app at home, you do not need the internet to open it again. Keep it open on your screen as you walk to the train.

      At The Gate

Now you are ready to go through the gates! Hold your smartphone with the screen facing down. Do not touch the machine with your phone. You should hold it about five centimetres away from the scanner. Wait for the green light and a loud beep. Sometimes the gates do not open. If this happens, do not push the gates. Just walk over to the people who work at the station. They are always happy to help you scan it.
