Safe Airport Internet Guides

Airport Connect

Welcome to our free airport Wi-Fi. It is great for reading the news or looking at your flight times. However, you must be careful. Do not look at your bank account because people might see your details. Also, please do not save large files or games to your computer or phone. This makes the internet very slow for everyone else. If you want to watch a film, you should use your own internet data.

Sky Web Free

You can use Sky Web Free while you wait for your plane. This internet is good for sending messages to your family. Remember, free airport internet is never completely safe. You should not type your passwords or other important words into any website. Someone might steal them. You can use our special safe app if you want to watch your favourite films online. Do not forget to keep your phone near you at all times.

FlyNet Safe

FlyNet Safe gives you free internet for one hour. When you first arrive, change your phone settings so it does not connect to the airport internet by itself. Only connect when you are ready. If you are bored, it is better to play games on your phone offline. When your hour finishes, or when you walk to your plane, you must choose 'forget network' to close the connection completely. This keeps your phone safe during your journey.

Losing the internet in the mountains

    Lucas

I went hiking with my older brother last weekend. I felt really scared when my phone lost the internet. We used an app on my phone to find our way, so we didn't know where to go. We walked for an hour before we found a farmer, and he told us the right way. Before this trip, I was on my phone every day. Now, I understand that I can have a great time without the internet. I don't need it all the time.

    Emma

Last Saturday, I walked in the mountains with my parents. I took a lot of beautiful photos of the trees and birds. I tried to send them to my friends at home, but my phone had no internet connection. At first, I was sad. But then I started talking more with my mum and dad. We had a lovely, quiet day together. I didn't need to ask anyone to show us the way, because my dad knew the mountains well.

    Noah

I love walking in the mountains. I knew my phone wouldn't work up there, so I was ready. I bought a paper map from a shop before the trip so we wouldn't get lost. My friends usually use their phones all the time, but I think it is great to have no internet. We just looked at the beautiful views and ate our sandwiches. I didn't feel scared at all. I only used my phone as a camera to take pictures.

    Answer Key & Explanations

7 A - Reason: Lucas says he "found a farmer, and he told us the right way." Emma says she "didn't need to ask anyone," which is a trap.

8 B - Reason: Emma says, "I tried to send them [photos] to my friends at home." Noah mentions taking pictures and his friends, but he didn't try to send photos.

9 C - Reason: Noah says, "I bought a paper map from a shop before the trip." Lucas used his phone to find the way, which is a distractor.

10 B - Reason: Emma says she "started talking more with my mum and dad." Lucas mentions his brother, not his parents.

11 A - Reason: Lucas says, "Before this trip, I was on my phone every day. Now, I understand that I can have a great time without the internet."

12 C - Reason: Noah says, "I think it is great to have no internet." Emma was sad at first, and Lucas was scared.

13 A - Reason: Lucas says, "I felt really scared when my phone lost the internet." Noah says he "didn't feel scared at all," which is a negative trap.
